This passion for healthcare started with my first "real" job. I worked for a hospice company in Arkansas. I hadn't been there long before Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. I remember watching the devastation while sitting at my desk wanting to help. So I called in a team of volunteers to help coordinate our assistance with FEMA and hospice agencies in NOLA. In 24 hours, we had over 30 aircraft in the air evacuating dying patients to Arkansas. I was on the first flight down. The first evacuation changed healthcare for me.

Prior to that flight, healthcare had been all about business plans & spreadsheets. Working side by side with that flight nurse to give compassionate care for that first patient and husband was transformative.

I've spent my career in the healthcare industry, primarily as a registered dental hygienist. My sister is a nurse, so I understand the complexities and rewards of patient care.
